Since then, I have made dozens of them for confirmations and graduations. A very powerful piece to give as a gift.

We take turns making trophies for contest that are held at our spring contest. It was my turn this year to make a trophy for the knife contest. I went “old school and created a sculpture that honored the first cutting tools mankind created during our ice age.

In our modern world, we’re so protected from the reality that is nature, we take for granted how important this one tool is. It gave us tooth and claw to better protect ourselves from predators and our enemies. It gave us the ability to make other tools to more easily acquire food shelter and clothing. In my book, a man should never have to ask another man for a knife, unless he’s broken his in mortal combat.
