The “Hell and Back Heart” was created to symbolize loss and perseverance. Our hearts do not escape the slings and arrows of life. Each cut, bruise and injury marks us deeply in some way and leaves us with wonderful scars.

It was created in my blacksmith shop using the four elements. Fire, Wind, Earth & Water…plus large caliber bullets. (Those are real bullet holes in the metal heart.)

The Calla Lily has been associated with holiness, faith and purity. Additionally, as the cone-line flowers blossom in spring, they have become symbols of youth and rebirth.

It’s important to keep positive energy in our lives and purposely place beautiful objets in our view just as it’s vitally important to place good people in our lives.

Problem Child

photo

Some projects in my smithy do not make the journey. This fella was a problem child for me and almost ended up in the scrap bin on more than one occasion. But, I have a soft spot for the underdog and couldn’t give up on this little blade. Or maybe I’m just a stubborn mule with OCD! Whatever the case, this knife came through in the final hour and will be hard to hand over to the client.
